How it works

The concepts behind this service

Search terms vs keywords

Keywords are what you bid on; search terms are what people actually typed. A core part of ongoing management is reviewing search terms, adding good ones as keywords and adding irrelevant ones as negatives so budget stays focused.

Responsive search ads and assets

We iterate the responsive search ad headlines, descriptions and assets over time, since fresh, varied copy gives Google's system more to test.

Bidding toward conversions

Bidding strategies, including Smart Bidding options, can optimize toward conversions or conversion value when tracking is reliable. Choosing and tuning the right strategy is part of management. Google has updated some Smart Bidding labels recently, so we work from current documentation.

Quality Score is a diagnostic, not the goal

Quality Score is a diagnostic signal about relevance and experience, not the business KPI itself. We use it to spot issues, while the real goal is relevant clicks that turn into conversions at a sustainable cost.
